If you have any love at all for old-tyme music, Bobby Roberts and His famous Dutchmen Band is bound to set your feet a-tapping or a-prancing.
Under the leadership of Robert C. Lauer, the Famous Dutchmen have been traveling the Minnesota ballroom circuit for the last 14 years from its booking address at St. Martin, Minnesota. Hundresds of thousands of people have swung with the group's lilting waltzes - stomped to its polkas - and joined in the gang singing of old German tunes.
"Nowadays," says Bobby, "most bands are trying to find a new sound in music, a third dimension so to speak. But not us! We are content in constantly striving to make the old sound better."
All proficient musicians, this happy-go-lucky group of old-tyme pros presents an accumulation of more than 150 years of experience in the business. They sing... they dance... they clown off in an effort to help everyone have a good time. "After all," according to maestro Bobby, "music is our business. Music is all we have to sell."
This album, the band's fourth recording release, shows not only the group's versatility but proves that old-tyme music can provide listening enjoyment as well as dancing pleasure.
